Your journey starts before you even walk in. Stop at Breads Bakery window and gaze at a tray of rolled chocolate croissants. Inside is a big bakery, not a fancy one, but a bread specialist where majestic bites are created. You will find a counter for bread and another for sandwiches and coffee. Order and take a seat.

Breads Bakery on 16th street won the award for best baguette in 2016 and the queues clearly show how popular they are.

I ordered the egg and cheese sandwiches, bread and croissant and sat to enjoy them; the food is excellent!

Forget about the music, the decor and unwelcoming staff... don't look at anything except the bread! The food is exquisite! The croissant is probably one of the best I've ever had and the sandwiches are so fluffy and tasty, while the mini chocolate rolls are out of this world and as for the baguette...even French people don't know how to create one as good as this!

The little chocolate rolls, which look like mini croissants (chocolate Rugalash) are really out of this world. Layers of chocolate and bread one over the other, dark and truly chocolatey, fluffy bread and glazing on top.

I started with the sandwiches, non oily eggs, fresh greens, sesame and gamins bread, thinly sliced radishes and lettuce.

Yummy! The croissant is like delicious air! So light, so flaky, very thin layers, very rich. It's the type of croissant you crave and surely the best I've had in New York City to date.

Tasty coffee, not dark roast and not bitter, was served with two mini cakes. With that I continued eating. I was so happy.

The croissant: a masterpiece! I was moaning uncontrollably after every bite... I closed my eyes and enjoyed another: a thin shell, perfectly flaky, it crumbles beautifully. I enjoyed the crispy crumbling sensation under my teeth, then the core; its richness, its moisture, its butter content and big air bubbles.

One bite, and another, the ingredients were playing around my mouth like a pillow fight.

A must try place.
