Built-in 1876, the Steigenberger Hotel is one of Germany’s iconic hotel brands occupying that same building since its opening. Located a few minutes walks from the touristic areas in the very heart of Frankfurt’s financial district, book your stay and discover the city without the hassle of taking a taxi. Luxury at its finest from the minute you arrive at the second you leave. A majordomo welcomes you with a large smile; a bellboy grabs the bags; the reception staff tried to find solutions for all your demands while you are accompanied to your room.

Everything is old, classy, luxurious and I loved it... until I checked the rooms. Travel back in time to when elevators didn’t have digital screens, walk the isles decorated with crystal chandeliers and gold, learn about the hotel’s history, and find your favorite luxurious shopping items.

Up in the room; old, very old, and not matching the luxury down below. From marble and shiny materials, you move to heavy doors, dark and dimmed carpets, old furniture, and a lack of finesse. The rooms are a bit shocking! The bad: the rooms don’t have a king-size bed but two small ones put together.

The best of the best in this hotel is the internet speed! 25mb/sec download speed is a dream come true! I’ve downloaded a terabyte of content in twenty-four hours, finishing all my work — free and open internet for all.

Breakfast is served in one of the hotel’s rooms; low ceiling, mirrors to make space look bigger, I was not enchanted by the space where breakfast is served: good for us, we were seated in the side room surrounded by high windows. Cold cuts, salmon, cheese, ready-made eggs, sausages, fruits, and cereals; a wide choice as expected in every Five Stars hotel. I enjoyed my breakfast, the service, coffee quality, spending two hours before hitting the road again.

Eggs Benedict or crepes, you can order special items from the menu; I recommend you do so. Fluffy English muffins, medium cooked poached eggs, sauce hollandaise on top, and a hint of salt and pepper.

My impressions: It’s not a hotel for kids or youngsters. The rooms are old. Breakfast is varied and rich. The hotel location is the best one can ask for. Very welcoming, the staff makes you want to visit again.

It was my second time staying at the Steigenberger brand, and I loved it. Consider it whenever you’re traveling.
