Four big mouth watering photos hung on a wide facade painted in orange invites you to walk in and order some pancakes. My Old Dutch with three locations around London offers a selection of pancakes, butterscotch and milkshakes. After two consecutive lunches I was craving some good desserts!

Monday is pancake day so you can choose any pancake for only £5.65. A choice of 21 savoury pancakes, five butterscotch, four light options, eight specials and ten classic sweets. You can even order them gluten free!

Spread across two floors, The Old Dutch seems to be a popular place around here. Crowded at 3pm, I noticed huge plates of crepes and waffles among others being served to happy customers. But since it's a pancake place, I ordered three of them. Welcoming staff took care of the order which didn't take much time to arrive.

Huge! The pancakes are huge served on enormous and heavy plates. A pancake that looks more like a crepe and tastes like my mum's chewy recipe. Not like the thick pancake you expect nor like a thin transparent crepe but something in between covered with strawberries, marsh mellows and Nutella cups. Even though I expected better, thicker, less chewy, fluffy and cleaner pancakes... I personally liked it, felt a certain nostalgia, and enjoyed the generosity of toppings. Another came with chocolate sauce, slices of bananas and nuts - not as good as the marshmallow one.

The real pancakes are the buttermilk pancakes, five of them stacked in a pile with strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream on the side with maple syrup. Five extremely dry pancakes that were hard to swallow!

Verdict: the place looks nice and makes your mouth water... not more!
