On the way from the black beach, passing alongside the glaciers you reach a beautiful hotel called Fosshotel. Set on a hill over viewing a golden plateau covered with snow facing the sea, the dark wood structure hosts a hundred rooms, a bar and a restaurant. A wide lobby where an enjoyable music plays welcomes you, check in and grab a bite before discovering your room. I felt good, a pleasant first impression, a relaxing feel.
Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon is a brand new 4-star hotel in Hnappavellir, a popular climbing area. The location is perfect for nature lovers, as the hotel is right between Skaftafell and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, two of Iceland's most spectacular natural attractions; a hiker's paradise. Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon offers 104 rooms with all necessary amenities.
Wood and metal, glass facades, leather sofas, glass chandeliers pending from the ceiling... lunch served at the restaurant up on the first floor.
Buffet lunch is served everyday on the first floor over viewing the beautiful scenery. Salmon, chicken, salads, freshly baked bread, butter, smoked ham, fruits and cakes. Food is so simple and so good! The simplicity and the passion put in every plate makes it outstanding! Cucumber tastes different, tomatoes taste different, smoked salmon, crunchy warm bread... it was so good!
Enjoying the music I spent my time shazaming the songs and downloading them on my phone. I was feeling blessed and transported.
Dinner is breathtaking! It was so good that I have it a review of its own! Enjoyed my evening, tasted a local dark beer, fell in love with the food and went back to my room. Even though it's a small room, I enjoyed its decor, warmth, beautiful view on the sea, spacious bathroom, free internet and soft bed sheets.
I'm not sure why, but I woke up hungry and excited to hit breakfast. If breakfast is as good as dinner, I would want to spend two hours eating from everything.
Lovely food, a lovely ambiance, a beautiful hotel; I'll recommend this place to all my friends visiting the glaciers and diamond beach.
