Some facts about Coffee

Champion importer

The United States is the biggest importer of green coffee. This is due not to extreme levels of coffee consumption, but rather to the lack of local production – the coffee plant only grows in the State of Hawaii. The second largest importer is Germany, Italy lies in third place.

Dreamy milk foam

to create perfect frothy milk you need the right milk! Not only is the fat content important, but the protein content of the milk should be between 3.4g and 3.6g per liter. The right temperature is also necessary – never let the milk boil otherwise the protein curdles and the foam collapses.

Color spectrum

Experts differentiate between as many as ten different roasts of coffee according to color. The scale ranges from light cinnamon (very light brown) to American (medium brown), to French press (dark brown, very shiny and oily) to Spanish (graphite black, matt rather than glossy)

Luxury good

In the middle of the seventeenth century coffee drinking was an expensive luxury. In Paris a pound of Arabica coffee cost about 500 Euros at today’s values.
