Not up to the standard at all.  We certainly expected more from Vardis, but neither the food nor the service was up to par.

Vardis Restaurant is considered to be one of the very few Grand Restaurants of Athens. It is the only restaurant in a hotel in Greece that has been awarded a Michelin star for 8 consecutive years, a distinction that makes Vardis a top Athenian restaurant. It is, furthermore, a distinction awarded in recognition of the excellent Mediterranean cuisine at Vardis Restaurant that is in itself a guarantee of high culinary art. Its luxurious surroundings and the fine quality that the restaurant ensures for its clients guarantee an unforgettable night out. Its precious dinner sets and the impeccable and always discrete service add on to the general atmosphere, while the variety and high quality of its wine cellar, which is constantly being refined with some of the most well-known and greatly sought after labels on an international level, can satisfy the requirements of all those well-versed in the art of well-being… Vardis Restaurant at Hotel Pentelikon is a top-ranking choice for all devotees of gourmet delights and discrete luxury as it is stands at the very top of Mediterranean cuisine and refinement in Greece.

We visited this restaurant as a Michelin star winner and unfortunately it was not really up to the standard we had hoped for. The food was not extraordinary at all, nor was the service.

What stunned me was the chief waiter, who didn't stop coming back to our table to poor more and more wine in our glasses; half the dinner had already passed and he asked us to open another bottle. Such incidents should never happen in a well renowned restaurant. They should prioritize money of course, as it’s a business after all, but that shouldn’t lead to harassing customers.

To be fair, the garden seating and great table service are positive and should be emphasized.
