The car parked in front of a high building, a large glass door and a doorman ready to welcome you in and take care of the luggage. A beefeater walking around the lobby welcomes guests to the bar, with three or four doormen attending to guests and the concierge. A reception, a cafe, a bar and the restaurant. Welcome to the luxurious Ritz Carlton in Berlin.
An 1-minute walk from both the Sony Center and Potsdamer Platz U- and S-Bahn station, this modern luxury hotel is an 11-minute walk from the Berlin Wall.… The posh rooms feature views of Potsdamer Platz or the Tiergarten. All come with flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi access (fee), minibars and marble bathrooms. Room service is available 24/7. Suites add separate living and sleeping areas; some have libraries and kitchenettes. Dining options include a gourmet French brasserie and a lobby cocktail lounge offering light fare. There's a wellness area with an indoor pool, saunas and a fitness room. There's also a business center and a ballroom.
As we arrived we were invited to the 10th floor. Up is the club lounge where check-in is made for club customers. A salon, chesterfield sofas and a desk. Checked in, it was time to visit the rooms. Old style, they ooze with luxury and style. It's that kind of old style that's not disturbing, fluffy carpets, curtains opening automaticity, an LCD screen, a Louis XVI couch, a wooden renaissance desk and a big bed I last saw in Versailles.
The room has it all. A safe, mini bar, a shower and bathtub, a complete set of amenities with a shaving kit and toothbrushes well as complementary water bottles for the night. An automatic door, a soundless air conditioning unit and a window that opens onto the street below.
Down below at ground level is the bar, a Glenfiddich award winner, where Beefeater Robert Lee takes care of opening the doors at 6pm every night. Behind it is the restaurant, a recommended restaurant, a beautiful place where dinner is enjoyed as well as breakfast every day.
We stayed here for three days, three days of pampering, a welcoming staff smiling instinctively as they see you, opening pleasant conversation and showing they care. A five star indeed with touches of luxury, finesse and style.
I'll come back for sure.
