I'm in love with the movie experience, specifically its popcorn and the huge drinks. I adore sipping liquid around large cubes of ice while traveling through an enormous screen on a relaxing chair. Lately, I became a fan of Vox, where the popcorn and Coke make you want to come back again and again.
One of things I'll be doing soon is a comparison of the best popcorn in town specially after the opening of the popcorn lounge at Grand Cinemas, and believe me, Vox's in one of the good ones out there. I’ve been here four times already in less than a month and I’ve been amazed by the generosity of the cup, the smoothness of the popcorn and the freshness of those popped kernels.
The popcorn at VOX impressed me to the extent that I think it’s deserving of a review. Down at the Beirut City Centre, choose between a dozen screens, many experiences, and a few things to eat while sitting in a relaxing chair as you’re transported into a world of action. Added to that, their unique popcorn helps make the experience memorable.
What makes their popcorn unique is its freshness. Fresh, not chewy, adequately salted, crunchy popcorn. Not only that, but you can choose between three flavors (cheese, caramel and plain) always available on the menu other than the 7 other suggestions available upon availability (green apple, chocolate...). The sizes are (small, medium and family-size).
Now for an up close and personal description: Plain is different than caramel and that is where the secret is. Using a diferent variety of kernels for the caramel popcorn makes them look and feel bigger, elliminates the unpleasant chewiness and stickiness usually experienced at oher cinemas. Those popcorns just explode under the teeth in style. How many times have you felt an excess of salt, or cold popcorn or even left overs of unpopped kernels... that never happens at Vox.
Best for last: The caramel popcorn. Adequately sweet and not too sticky, they can be enjoyed with your bare hands without leaving them covered in a sugary mess. They're not too strong in taste, nor too sweet. It was really the best popcorn I’ve had to date.
Other than the movies, the 7.1 surround sound and the professional service, Vox’s popcorn makes me come back here every other week.
