Seductive and striking, Mondrian London at Sea Containers brings a bold new energy to London, blending the style and sophistication of the boutique brand with Southbank's eclectic vibe. Situated on the banks of the River Thames in the famed Sea Containers building, Mondrian London uniquely offers river view balcony suites directly on the Thames. The hotel captures the essence of the original building, exuding 1920s cruise ship glamour integrated with the modern twists and sophisticated design for which the Mondrian brand is known.

You will immediately be drawn to the giant, copper clad wall inspired by the hull of a ship, running from outside the building, through to the lobby and on to the river side of the hotel.

The most glamorous of spaces is the rooftop bar, Rumpus Room, with its glass box structure and outdoor terrace, featuring panoramic views over London.

The taxi stopped in front of a ship's hull informing us of our arrival. The front of a ship redesigned in copper colored material. On the floor are giant blue rings, like the metal lines used to anchor a ship at sea.

The lobby is a high ceiling and large space where a side reminds you of a ship while the other hosts a designer swing. A friendly staff welcomed us at the reception before going up to my room on the fifth floor. I couldn't stay much in the room, amazed by the hotel as I was, I wanted to go down and discover.

The hotel is really nicely designed and futuristic. Inspired by a ship, you can see some of the materials constituting it. Walk through the lobby to the restaurant occupying the left side and the cafe on the right. Every single detail is thought out meticulously. The leather sofas, the scale models of ships, the indirect lighting, the toilets... I wish I could stay here more than a night.

Up in the room is another story. A large room, a large bathroom, an LCD screen, art decorates the walls and one thing caught my attention - the air conditioning unit. This is the first time I see an air flow coming from under the window and not from above the bed, this keeps the walls clean. I loved the amenities, the mini bar and the free Internet.

The amenities are special. Peppermint shampoo, cilantro hair conditioner and rum body wash. Soothing towels, hot water, strong light... All you need for a pleasant stay.

That night, we booked a table at the rooftop bar. A general view of London at night is breathtaking. I loved the music as well as the drinks and recommend you give it a try next time you're here.

A pleasant sleep while I counted the minutes until I could discover breakfast which starts at 06:30am. Two tables set in the restaurant facing the Thames. Yogurt, cold cuts, cheese, fresh fruits and cereals. Muffins and croissant with a selection of bread and another table where the hot plates are displayed. Tomatoes, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, bacon and Cumberland sausages. Unfortunately my flight was to leave in two hours, so I couldn't taste anything but simply had coffee. I would have imagined myself staying here for hours enjoying the view and the space's fine architectural details.

Leaving to the airport I was recommended to take the hotel taxi with a flat rate of £88. Choosing a normal cab, it cost me £72 during rush hour. Just saying.

All was good, all was great and I will surely come back and recommend this hotel to my friends.
