Located on the upper floor over the famous Osteria, The shrill is usually compared to Berlin’s Grill Royal. Upscale and more expensive then the other restaurant down below, The Grill is an upscale restaurant proposing a selection of international meat cuts from the four corners of the planet. Dimmed lights, shiny wine glasses, a bar, and candle lights. Spotted on google maps with “four dollars next to it” -meaning a bit expensive- the Grill is an upscale restaurant for the meat connoisseurs.
An interesting menu takes you on a journey starting in Ireland, all the way to California, France, and beyond. Angus, Charolais, Wagyu, and Bison are some of the cuts you can taste.
You have to know: the service is not as friendly as it should be, a bit rude. Every single item in the menu contains garlic: yes, all! So be aware and pay attention. Unfortunately, all the sauces contain garlic included the béarnaise. I managed to order my meat garlic-free, which I ate without sauce.
There’s an interesting plate: “The Grill Tasting for two persons.”
Back to the restaurant: under a low ceiling, dine with a noisy background of music — a small space where everyone shouts and speaks loudly. Tables are lit from above, which made it easy for my pictures.
Wow! The meat is awesome! I started by the Charolais, hard-textured meat with a feeling of filaments inside it. A bit hard but rich. The American bison followed, tender, juicy, and rich in taste. It’s better than Charolais. Angus last, best of the three... it’s amazing to feel the differences and experience meat depending on the country, in the animal's food and size of the beast. We rarely -or never- try different cuts one after the other to understand the differences, and I was happy to do so. The mashed sweet potatoes with crunchy peanuts is a culinary masterpiece. The truffle ketchup is awesome!
Happy of the meat, happy of the mashed potatoes, very happy of the sweet potato purée, happy of the juicy gourmet wagyu burger but not of the restaurant’s general vibes. I recommend the meat and especially that tasting platter.
