The First Dessert Only Cafe in Central London

Do you sometimes wonder why the dessert menu is almost always smaller than the savoury menu in a cafe/restaurant... well, it seems that Hotel Café Royal is making this dream for many come true with the launch of a dessert-only restaurant early March. It is believed to be the first in a London hotel and not just any hotel - a five star in central London.

The restaurant, set to open on 3 March, will feature a selection of tasting menus with optional wine pairings from 6pm to 10.30pm daily, with menus created by executive pastry chef Sarah Barber.

The Sarah in Wonderland menu will feature five courses, starting with savouries to “prepare the palate” such as the Milky Way with goats' cheese, wild honey and beetroot snow, and chicken foie with quince and brioche.

The desserts are inspired by Alice in Wonderland: Queen of Hearts (raspberries, Champagne and roses); Mad Hatter (kirsch and cherries) and Eat Me, Drink Me (Snickers, chocolate malt shake).

A three-course menu called Childhood Memories will include Rhubarb and Custard and Jaffa Cakes. There will also be a Pick ‘n’ Mix menu with sweet and savoury options.
