It's the story of three brothers with a big passion for food. Known as the "hats" brothers, the boys started at Souk el Akel more than eighteen months ago, attracting thousands of clients to their stand asking for one item: the signature "Buffalo" burger.
Now the brothers have opened their little piece of heaven on Mar Mikhael. "The Bros" big lit sign can be spotted down on Mar Mikhael on the famous street next to Tavolina. Park your car and walk up a couple of meters. A jar filled with cookies, a fridge loaded with soft drinks... they even sell the Souk El Akel’s Popsicle!
The shop is small, oozing positive vibes, the walls are brick and wood. You will find a storage area protected with steel panels and a bar in front of an open kitchen where the three brothers work hard to please their customers. The signature look is their caps, their famous American baseball caps, which they wear at all times and use to decorate the place.
Meat burger, fried chicken burger, more than 190 grams thrown in a deep frier then dipped into one of their signature sauces; Buffalo sauce, barbecue, Pineapple Express, Caesar and Cran-Brie.
I ordered a beef patty and a chicken Cran-Brie. Beef is not frozen, prepared a la minute, chicken is fried on demand and they even have fries. The burgers are served in wooden boxes covered with the signature blue printed-paper.
I’m having their first burger to be made today, and I’m proud of this.
- Beef burger to start, a really good beef patty, tender meat with a red heart, enjoyably peppered a-la-minute. Pickles, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon and the special smoked sauce. I enjoyed the bun, loved the patty, the general mix of vegetables and the fries on the side. I'm amazed by their white-colored mustard sauce, the quality of their buns and the dedication put into creating this burger.
- Now the best part is when you try their chicken, after all they are known for it! One of the best chicken burgers the country has ever seen, it is fried chicken but it's not oily at all, it's extremely juicy inside out, offers a crispy outer and this before reaching the other ingredients. The Cran-Brie is in my opinion the best of them all. Two pieces of cheese, cranberry sauce, roquette leaves and mayo. This very balanced burger is addictive! 'Recommended' and 'must try' are the least that can be said.
Just when I thought the experience was coming to an end, two plates of chicken wings landed in front of me. I have to tell you that I'm not a fan of wings but these are wow! Excellently fried crunchy wings beautifully seasoned and served with honey mustard on the side. I'm impressed, really impressed! Crispy skin, juicy and tasty.
Go down to Mar Mikhael and meet "The Bros"; you'll enjoy the experience and more importantly the food!
