Cold cut and cheese with a selection of local specialties, the restaurant is famous and part of several Top10 lists. Unfortunately, the service is slow and not too welcoming. I’ve been here, done that and now back for the memorable pastrami and exquisite grapevine leaves.
Sit by the fridge or choose to smoke outside in the closed terrace. Wait long minutes to be served, make sure not to sit on a big table despite the restaurant being totally empty. Forgetting about the staff, food at Karamanlidika is outstanding.
Probably better than the pastrami I had in New York, lighter than the one we have in Beirut and classier in shape and flavor. Order the stuffed grapevines, the Basterma fried fingers, and the cold cuts selection. Enjoy a taste of Greece, walk the street, smell the aromas of spices and continue your explorations of the city.
A must stop for all tourists visiting Athens.
