Walking the streets of MiraFlores I stumbled upon the Hilton. I went in for drink and some food. I was hoping to have the local version of eggs Benedict at the Hilton Lima, but unfortunately it was already noon.
Social Restaurant & Bar features an array of distinctive Peruvian-American fusion flavors, and provides you the opportunity to taste the acclaimed Peruvian national cocktail: Pisco Sour. After a delicious meal, unwind with a refreshing beverage at the bar, which opens onto a terrace at street level, filling the space with natural light and creating a pleasant alfresco atmosphere. The restaurant offers a new concept of four integrated atmospheres, including the dining area, terrace area, bar area, and private dining area.
Located on the corner of a busy street next to a series of four restaurants I was willing to try this afternoon, the Social serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a selection of all day 'a la carte' items. I was hungry and craving local food which led me to have the empanadas and the pork belly accompanied with Apple barbecue sauce.
The restaurant has a main seating area as well as the terrace where I chose to sit. A classy stylish decor where orange and black are the main colors. Design chairs, wall paper and tiles in a space filled with black square tables. Coke Zero I ask which was served in the cup immediately and not emptied in front of me; not professional for the Hilton.
A long wait but it was worth it; food is excellent.
A sandwich of pork, two chunks of super tender and fatty Pork, a crunchy rich envelop and a moist heart served in a fresh ciabatta bread with sliced carrots, lettuce and the smooth sauce. Two big well balanced and beautifully pieces of pork you will enjoy until the last bite! I loved it. Next to that are chunks of fried potatoes served with a mayo spicy sauce.
Oh my! These empanadas are awesome. If we have sambousik, they have even better. Three large empanadas served with smooth guacamole on the side, crunchy and fresh empanadas stuffed with aji de gallina... This Peruvian speciality is made with chicken in a mildly spicy creamy sauce thickened with breadcrumbs and ground nuts. Delicious indeed but I had to stop because other restaurants were on the list.
Delicious food I recommend is served at The Hilton's Cafe in Lima. Two generous plates for only $20.
