When I was asked to represent Lebanon's ministry of tourism in Lima, the idea of traveling this far for few days scared me. I believe that everything happens for a reason and despite my tight schedule I accepted the challenge. This week was a mise-en-bouche of the Peruvian capital which I'll be visiting again soon.
The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) organized its second Form on Gastronomy Tourism in collaboration with the Peru government at the Lima Convention Center. Conferences and lectures highlighted on the importance of food and tourism while many vendors occupied the halls selling their products. Coffee, quinoa, fruits, chocolate and handicrafts are Peru's famous ingredients which I took back home with me.
The event started on the 27th of April with a gala dinner and continued for the upcoming two days where diplomats and food specialists from around the world met to exchange cultural beliefs.
I'm happy to have attended hoping to be part of next year's events. Check out the event website and the photo gallery.
