Papacho seems to be the burger place to try while in Lima. At 1:30pm the two floor restaurant was full. It's a lively place where people shout, laugh and eat while enjoying their time.
There's a bar, wood floors, a nicely designed ceiling, white tables covered with recycled paper, television sets broadcasting sports and colorful sofas spread here and there for a more relaxing seating.
It's a classy burger restaurant with a large menu. No pictures needed, it includes a selection of appetizers, burgers, sides, wings, salads, sandwiches, sundaes, drinks and cocktails. With 14 different burgers, I decided to have the classic one.
Busy, waiters are not as gentle as they should be and surely not as professional as they should be. I was sent to sit at the bar because I was alone and no one accompanied me to do so... until I chose my table. Service is slow and lacks finesse. I waited thirty minutes to be served and to be honest the live sport matches played on TV are too loud...
Anyway, let's eat.
Thirty minutes to receive a huge burger with very thick bread, dry without any sauce, huge tomatoes, unmelted cheese and a patty that has chunks of fat you hear squeaking under your teeth.
Let's start again; the lower bread should be thinner, the meat with melted fat not chunks of gelatin, should be cooked less especially that I asked to have it medium, tomato slices should be thinner and the sauce is a must in the burger unless the patty is juicy on its own.
The good: I liked the idea of the large recyclable placemats and the colored pens found on all tables.
The bad: Service is disastrous, the food is average and this burger place doesn't serve any wet napkins.
Papacho's is not worth it.
