The Stylish NM Hotel Lima

Six am in Lima is noon time in Lebanon, waking up hungry I was excited to try their breakfast. NM Hotel is where I'm staying this week discovering the Peruvian capital for the first time. A classy yet trendy hotel with pure lines and neat decor welcomes you for breakfast from 6 until 10am.

For breakfast, I was expecting to see the light of day and I can honestly say that this is their only minus. A square room looks and feels like a nightclub. Black, crystal chandeliers, a black carpet, black walls, dark wooden tables and a low ceiling, it will awake all your claustrophobic senses. But food is good.

Buffet is spread on two sides. Assorted homemade pastry, assorted mini sandwiches, jam and butter, three choices of cheese, six choices of cold cuts, baskets filled with croissants and bread, a toaster, individual bags of cereals and fresh fruits. On the other side are the hot plates.

Everything is positively different; bread is fluffy and fresh, croissant is flaky and not too buttery, corn flakes are thin and crispy, proposed fruits are rarely found in our part of the world, coffee is intense and not bitter, ham is smoky and locally produced, cheese is not commercial and the list goes on. It was the first time I try prickly pears outside the borders of our lands presented in thick slices.

The next morning I visited again. Had a fruit bowl with yogurt and corn flakes that same one I keep on enjoying at all my hotel visits around the world. Tried all their cheeses and cold cuts. The cakes which I liked and croissants. Didn't feel like approaching the hot section though.

I'm happy to have chosen this hotel and to have started my day with their breakfast.
