Late lunch options in Como are very few. All restaurants close at 14:30 exceptMcDonalds and thecafe facing the lake.Cafe Pasticceria Monti has a large selection of plates and a pastry buffet selling bites at €1 each.
A late afternoon lunch on this beautiful but cold day of January while we watched the sun setting behind the mountain. Having lunch with the local birds is exceptional. While the city rests, Monti restaurant is packed.
Music, table covers, individually ears lord cutlery to protect them from the elements and a welcoming staff. What a beautiful setting and I encourage you to drive the hour from Milan for it; it surely is worth it.
Risotto saffron, pizza Diabola and spaghetti carbonara.
Food is very average, tourists food with no flavor and no texture. Spaghetti carbonara not being available we had to take he tagliatelle Bolognesi; a good sauce but he pasta are way over cooked. The risotto is dry, needs more sauce and more flavor but cooked al dente. The pizza has crunchy borders, a heart loaded with ingredients but a tomato sauce that's a bit too watery and the cheese floats on top not looking too appetizing. Anyway, I'm not expecting some exceptional but you have to now what to expect. For a quick stop over, a nice view and a late lunch on one of the most beautiful areas in north Italy.
A Coke light, enjoyable music, it was a pleasant afternoon.
