If you are traveling through the internal flights hub of Milan's Airport, Monteverdi Lounge will be your stopover. Situated far from the main shopping area, this lounge boasts the quietness I needed, but I am not sure that it's one of those places that I would love to come back to.
Pass by the shopping area and take the long moving carpet. Head up to the first floor and that’s where you will find the Monteverdi Lounge. Pay attention that this lounge does not allow Skyteam Elite Plus members in unless they are traveling out of Italy. I was taking an internal flight to Rome and the attendant didn't allow me in until I showed her my other boarding pass out of Italy. The lounge is small but the colors used give it that spacious feel. There sofas, benches and individual chairs are all created in light brown leather. More so using fresh colors like white, beige, light grey and lightwood everywhere makes it look spacious. The ceiling is low, but warmly lit with yellow lighting. Unfortunately, although the overall feel is relaxing, you will get that claustrophobic feeling in a while due to the low ceiling. I wouldn’t stay there for more than half an hour if I had too.
Choose to sit on the higher level with a ramp separation for businessmen. Tables, leather chairs and pending lights adds certain privacy and an enjoyable view on the lounge for the curious passengers who would like to keep an eye out for someone they may know. Food is simple. A few sandwiches divided into two sections: vegetarian and non vegetarian along with soft drinks, a coffee machine, few wine choices, a full alcohol bar, a basket of fruits, corn flakes, yogurt, crackers, chips and wrapped cakes.
The unacceptable: The buffet is too small considering the size of this lounge. It’s unacceptable to be honest, especially that all the plates are almost empty. Throughout the two hours I was at the lounge, they were not refilled once. Plus the ice bucket was always empty.
The good thing: This lounge has showers
The bad thing: You are only allowed internet access on one single device. Login on another and see the first device disconnect
The next time I'm around I may walk in for half an hour only. I will not plan to manage my time to make sure I enjoy the lounge longer... A quick in and out would be enough...
