Lebanon has been invaded with a million sushi places that have been mushrooming on every corner of the country. I think that the meaning and real taste of proper sushi cuisine has been lost along the way. It's an art and a passionate trip through a variety of tastes and combinations...That's my opinion!

This is why I love Le Sushi Bar. It is the best Sushi in town with no close competitor... Le Sushi Bar maintains the true meaning of Japanese cuisine.

Just by entering the Sushi Bar you feel like you are moving into another world. I have tried them all from Osaka to Sushi Mooda, Ichiban, Salmontini, Maki and many others, none provide the service, quality and taste of the Sushi Bar, the first Japanese restaurant in town that opened its doors on the lower corner of the Monot street on June 1998 before moving to its newest yet old location on Abdel El Wahab El Inglisi street a few meters before the Albergo Hotel.

Le Sushi Bar has been a pioneer in the field of sushi creation since its inception in 1998.

Even though its 14 years old already, the decoration is still very trendy for today's taste. It's like a huge wooden crate with an open sky ceiling providing the perfect natural light, with wood tables positioned all around the long bar and cooking center point. On one side more than six wine coolers protect some of the finest bottles available on the menu.

I love the details, details aiming to perfection that no other restaurant in town even think about:
  • The plastic chopsticks
  • The large wine glasses (Stolzle Lausitz)
  • The beautiful plates
  • The adequate music
  • The Evian glass bottles

In a previous review, I talked about the unprofessionalism of the Lebanese waiters and the concept of having waiters from the Philippine in Japanese restaurants that are not trained for the job. They all copied Sushi Bar when the restaurants first started but unfortunately they didn't know the rules of the game: The Sushi Bar have their waiters perfectly trained for customer satisfaction, others just bring them to be tray drivers from and to the kitchen.

That day, for lunch we ordered from the largest menu I have ever seen:
  • Flamed Salmon, Marinated Salmon, Edamame to start with
  • Small plates: Crispy squid, Soft crab, Snow crab, Ark shell
  • Crispy: Crazy, Crazy shrimp, smoked salmon
  • Uramaki: Remastan, Salmon, Shrimp tempura, Erons secret, June Deli, Grilled salmon, Nowel's sensation, Soft crab and Unagi.
  • Temaki: Crazy salmon and spicy salmon

All followed by Chocolate Fondant, Ginger Cheese Cake and Trio Iced Macaron.

Should I go into details and describe every item by itself? Every roll is a piece of art, so full of passion, colors and taste. The fried squid are sensational, the marinated salmon is so fresh, the Temaki are crunchy from the outside unlike all others, generously full of fish from the inside and not rice only.

The Unagi Eel is smoothly heated with a sweet sauce and a pink special presentation with a violet herb on top. The Snow crab has a yellow color, served warm and have a presentation making you start divorcing it with your eyes.

As for the desserts they are simply unique. The Macaron Trio (Chocolate, green tea and rose flower) or the Valrona dark chocolate fondant are heaven on earth.

All was accompanied with a gentle yet delicious wine: Tierra De Luna Argentinian white Chardonnay 2010

We cleaned our hands with the nylon wrapped hot napkins that come before moving out with a pro mess that the experience will be repeated very soon.

The average check was 120$/person, but believe me, for what we ate, it is not expensive.
