Orly airport is truly unique and more of a mall than an airport. Walk by Ladurée, La Maison du Chocolat, Cafe Pouchkin and many other names you wouldn't usually expect to see at an airport. I stopped by Ladurée for breakfast. Ladurée in Orly airport is a replica of Ladurée Champs Elysées - where having breakfast is truly transporting. Pass the door and live the experience; enjoy the music, the beautiful decor, the setup, the colorful plates, the service and menu. I never expected to enjoy breakfast so much.
Yes, it's breakfast at the airport. I reminded myself about this when I received the porcelain plates, silver coffee pitchers and pepper mill.
The old Parisian style Ladurée decor includes wooden tables, mirrors and a marble chimney, some French renaissance chandeliers, wooden parquet floor and antique paintings.
Freshly baked bread, buttery croissants, the Ladurée signature butter served warm and a fine coffee. I didn't want breakfast to end... I was flying way before takeoff.
OMG! The eggs are majestic!
- Start with the scrambled eggs and pastrami. Molten eggs, moist and creamy topped with fine pastrami meat. Hot eggs and tender pastrami. A perfect combination of textures and flavors creating an addictive mix.
- Eggs Benedict like I've never had before, a perfectly cooked poached egg, hard on the outside and molten on the inside, a bed of smoked salmon and sliced avocados. A plate decorated with crunchy and flaky bread fingers loaded with lemon. Delicious salmon, ripe avocados and superb eggs with a fine Hollandaise sauce. A recommended plate full of flavor: a hint of salt here, an explosion of pepper there and a boost of freshness... It's a beautifully decorated masterpiece.
I felt pampered; hot bread, delicious food, non butter coffee, soothing music... I love Ladurée in France!
