I felt good the minute I walked into La Pecora Bianca. This Italian restaurant serves breakfast so I thought why not try what they have to offer?
I liked the place, the decor, the colors, the music... the long communal tables, the green chairs.... I also liked the bar and the bottles displayed on the walls.
I couldn't stop looking around enjoying the details that make this place unique: the lighting and colors, the long benches, the wooden floor, dining tables with flowers and lavender boxes which add color and freshness.
On the menu, choose from a selection of eggs, toast, bowls and sweet items. The famous order is the Colazione, consisting of ricotta cheese, toast, home made marmalade and mixed greens on the side. And with that I couldn't resist trying the pancakes. The open kitchen at the end of the restaurant prepares the orders and sends them fresh to the tables.
While waiting for my food, let's talk about the waitress. A smile from her in the morning would have been appreciated.
I then received a wooden board with two sunny side up eggs, a green salad, a portion of ricotta cheese on the side, some marmalade in a cup and toasted bread. Yes, that's it, no innovation, simple ingredients served one next to the other. It looks like any other breakfast you'd find elsewhere. Good quality bread, good eggs but I was expecting something more!
The pancakes are good, not exceptional but enjoyable. A stack of three juicy pancakes with sauce between, juicy and moist, lightly lemony, clearly milky topped with ricotta and whipped cream and decorated with red fruit. They're different from your average sweet pancakes, the taste of milk gives it that special touch.
Complementary internet, good vibes, enjoyable music and food that's not bad at all. La Pecora Bianca is an interesting place to have breakfast in New York.
