The annual global consumption of dates was more than 1m metric tons in 2018. Although the consumption rate was lower in 2019, experts see a rising demand for the market. Dates are a staple food in the Middle East, India, and Egypt. Traders, however, often neglect various consumption of this amazing fruit. Every single part of a date can be processed into a new product.

Cull dates are an economical food alternative to feed the livestock. They macerate the dates and use them in appropriate portions for lactating dairy cows or cattle fattening.
 
The value-added products list goes on with date seed oil, date vinegar, and date flour.
 
In 2018, the global date production was around 8.4M tones with a value of $13.2B. The global market value amounted to $13.8 billion in 2018 and $13.4 billion in 2019. Although the rising momentum could not maintain, the forecasts show that the market value soars to 16.25 billion by 2025. The top five exporters of 2020 included Israel, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, United States, and Iran. Egypt, Iran, and Algeria come as the top date producers of the world.

India holds first place in the dates importers list with an import value of $225 million. The United Arab Emirates and Iraq were the top exporters to India.
