I came here last time for breakfast and now I am back to enjoy some lunch. The fresh smell welcomes you into a calm ambiance... some sunny spells, cool breeze and good food... what can I say...

I happened to come here by pure coincidence and enjoyed some breakfast which I still remember to date. The quality of foul and hummus is rarely found in our country. A month passed and here I am again, revisiting Fady, this passionate man who has made some drastic improvement to his restaurant.

Down on the Zakrit road, facing the Medco station is a small place, a little tiny eatery with views over the valley. Clean tables, an open kitchen and some improvements on the design, stones here and there, air conditioning units that were being installed, as well as glass facades to open up the view for a better experience.

Other than breakfast, Fady serves lunch. Saj, foul and hummus, meat from the grill, plates, chicken and sandwiches. I was accompanied by my friend Abdo, and he insisted we try Fady's salads and meat. "Look at my belly, that's Fady's food, it's proof of a premium quality and great taste," Abdo told me.

We started with a mise-en-bouche, a plate of fresh vegetables including a huge Lebanese tomato. Cut in quarters and ready to be soaked in arak, or sprinkled with salt for more enjoyment.

Lunch was ready to be served. Tabbouleh, prepared for me without onions and decorated with lemon slices on top, all served with a plate of lettuce. Hummus and French fries followed by charcoal grilled chicken. Take a piece of Fady's famous Saj bread, wrap some chicken, marinated to perfection without garlic, hummus and live the enjoyment.

Between one bite and another, I was back to those sweet tomatoes, they were as tasty as honey.

Grilled tomatoes, a chunk of meat, hummus on top... Lebanese food is a trip to heaven. The meat was indeed unique. A nicely cooked, juicy meat, tender and feeling fresh with a certain rich texture showcasing the quality of the meat and the juiciness of the ingredients within. Kafta, juicy and fresh with hummus as well as the chich tawouk (chicken chunks) marinated to perfection without any trace of garlic.

Best for last, a must try, a unique creation, a mouthwatering innovation; Arishe with Nutella rolled in a crispy Saj. Arishe, the famous goat yogurt-style cheese resembling Ashta and spread next to Nutella on a crispy, thin Saj dough. Pure white and moist, sweet hazelnut spread inside a crunchy and chewy dough. That's yummy!

Fady, the small unusual restaurant in Zekrit, is your stop over for a quick bite free from judgment and sophistication. A place where the owner receives you in his home serving you with some homey preparations, each produced meticulously with household standards. I personally like this place.
