The majestic Grand Sofar Hotel located in the village of Sawfar reopens its doors to the public after years of closure. Left as is at its natural state before the renovation which should start soon, the hotel brings back to life memories of a century, loaded with stories and events. Invited to the first wedding this summer, I could feel the stories engraved in its walls... if only these walls could talk.
In Sawfar, the center of attraction was no doubt the Sofar Grand Hotel, built in 1890 by the Sursocks immediately opposite the train station. This legendary hotel attracted the highest of society as well as the elite of gamblers every summer since first opening its doors and up to the civil war in 1975.
