One can't come to San Francisco and not visit the home of Ghirardelli, one of the world's famous chocolate manufacturers. In the heart of California on the San Francisco Bay facing Alcatraz is Ghirardelli Square. The place opened in 1852.
A huge shop welcomes you in. It's a place where chocolate is produced using machines that have been running for the last century. A bar, tables and one menu; order and take a seat.
The World Hot Fudge Sunday: A big cup hosts a scoop of vanilla ice cream overflowing with the homemade signature chocolate hot fudge and topped with whipped cream. The mix is decorated with chopped almonds and a cherry. Mouth-watering!
The banana split, known here as the Golden Gate, is highly recommended. A trio of vanilla, strawberry and Ghirardelli chocolate ice cream, each paired with perfect toppings. Crushed pineapples, sliced strawberries, handmade hot fudge and finished with a whole banana and decorated with whipped cream and a cherry. It's so good!
Presidio Passion is all about a long cup filled with vanilla ice cream smothered between layers of sliced strawberries topping and homemade fudge. Whipped cream makes all the difference.
Ghirardelli is a heaven for foodies and chocolate lovers. Beware though that once you start you will not be able to stop. All ingredients are well done and tasty. Delicious;y fresh whipped cream, mouth-watering chocolate fudge and ice cream and heavenly presentation.
I enjoyed my time so much. Ghirardelli is definitely a place to visit while in San Francisco.
