People have been talking a lot about Frosty Palace. This gem of a place, tucked away in a small road in one of Achrafieh's popular areas, Mar Mikhael, has raised eyebrows lately with its new Foie Gras burger offered only during the holiday season. People have been rushing to try it and I became super curious to learn why. With just a few days left on this amazing offer, I dashed down today to discover the burger that has been making noise in Beirut. I visited Frosty Palace a while ago. A small diner serving unique burgers. The parking is almost impossible in that area, but this has not stopped people from queuing outside to wait their turn at tasting one of Lebanon's great burger joints.

For the holiday season, Frosty Palace is serving a premiere plate: The "Foie Gras Burger". The last time I tried a Foie Gras burger was at The Grill Room at the Four Seasons Hotel, I thought I would not get the chance to enjoy this delicatessen plate again, up until today. To me, a foie gras burger is the ultimate. I love burgers and I love foie gras: imagine the combination.

Heavenly. By the way, you still have two days only to taste it. Believe me it is worth it. The last time I was at Frosty Palace, the service and waiters experience was not that memorable. I was intrigued to see what has changed and what has improved. What I can tell you in a nutshell, I had one of the best lunches a diner can offer: Delicious fries, tasty coleslaw, an impressively tasty burger all washed down with my favorite Diet Coke, followed by  mouthwatering extravagant desserts.

WOW! An overwhelming experience.

The burger - what can I say. The picture depicts the truth; an amazingly mouthwatering combination of fresh light bread, crunchy from the inside with rare BBQ taste, thick and juicy ground beef, unique caramelised onions, fig compote, which I can tell you is amazing, giving a sweet taste, thin fresh lettuce leaf with two thick slices of grilled foie gras. Just imagine! A combination of wonders your taste buds will rarely experience. It was simply yummy. No added condiments were needed - the taste of the burger was sublime. Simply orgasmic! The fries, thick and crunchy are one of the best this country has to offer. French fries is a simple thing that some don't know how to cook properly. Frosty Palace provides fine dining high-end tasty fries, simply because they are cooked with love. The same goes for the coleslaw which was adequately sweet and crunchy with minimal quantity of mayonnaise making the salad tasty and light at the same time.

More was yet to come... The dessert experience was beyond imaginable.

I ordered the Caramel Banana Sunday:  Crunchy caramel pieces, nuts, whipped cream, homemade vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and some banana slices served in a long glass. Every bite is a journey to the land of desires. Every ingredient is individually tasty. This is a uniquely prepared dessert, I strongly advise. The wholewheat pancakes smell heavenly delicious, covered with powder sugar adding a slight feel of sweetness. A thick and fluffy yet light dough filled with with air bubbles enjoyed with slightly sweetened maple syrup by Uncle Luke's.

Guys, if you didn't try Frosty Palace yet, you are missing out on a lot. Pass by before the year ends to experience delicatessen at its finest. Be prepared to pay 40,000L.L for a burger that deserves an applause.

Something happened which I appreciated and must make a note off. My friend felt a weird taste in his burger and ate only half of it. The waiter noticed that, and asked us about the problem. We were very positive and tried not to show any negative comments. We were then offered desserts on the house. Thank you for your kind and professional gesture.

I appreciated:

  • They offer Coca-Cola and Pepsi
  • The waiters are much better since my last visit. I congratulate you on the improvement.
  • Even though its a tiny, the place smells good and no frying haunts your clothes

Only two things are missing for this diner to reach perfection:

  • Some decent uniforms are a must for the waiters because their street t-shirts are not professional and do not fit the diner's standards. Uniforms are much cleaner, right?
  • Please get some wet napkins! A diner without wet napkins? And a waiter that answers me: "We have a restroom". Please reconsider.
A had a great lunch today, ending with it the quest of the 379 restaurants visited in 2012 with more to come in the new year. I bought some premium dark chocolates from Caffarelthey sell in-house and went back home.
