The taxi dropped me off in a busy industrial neighborhood in front of a place that's not too touristic to say the least. Wearing a blazer, I was not too comfortable walking, but people say that this restaurant, popular among locals, has the best Peruvian food ever. I was excited to eat!

No English language in here. The menus are in Spanish and a staff only speaks Spanish, although they are welcoming.

A wide restaurant with white tiles looks like a giant kitchen...with many tables made of industrial wood. It's not so clean and the tables are unpleasant to eat on...

Although the place looks weird, you'll change your mind as soon as you have the first bite. The vibes are so natural, the place is so authentic and the food is memorable. I'm so happy to have come here before leaving back to the middle continent.

Three plates good for a family of four:

  • Liche de Tigre, el Veridico is the must have: A bowl of soup has a mix of vegetables, octopus, a decorative shrimp, a scallop in its shell, crunchy corn and lots of shredded onions bathing in an intensive lemony and spicy juice. Amazingly delicious and intense, the flavors are so rich, the sauce is so flavorful. This is to die for.
  • And then came the ceviche: Oh my goodness! I was ready to eat everything even the onions; a memorable plate I'll be telling the story of to my children. Four kinds of fish bathing in their juices, strong lemon and cooked to perfection with cooked giant corn I the middle to decorate the plate. Calamari ceviche, black squid ceviche, white fish ceviche, shellfish ceviche.
  • When I thought that I've had the best, the plate of rice arrived. Something that looks like Paella tastes like a risotto, a mountain of well cooked and balanced rice, rice with seafood, green peas and fried shrimps bathing in yellow sauce. What a majestic taste! I really couldn't stop enjoying this mix of seafood and rice with melted cheese. I'm officially in love with Peruvian cuisine.

I paid $45 only for all of the above.

That's what real Peruvian food is all about. I can't wait to come back to Lima.
