Why do I always write about the same chocolate store again and again? You may be thinking that I know the owner or may even be a partner. It's none of the above... My answer would be, it’s where my heart leads me, or should I say my tummy takes me... M de Noir is one of my favorite chocolate shops in town.
And for Easter they have created something innovative – half chocolate eggs in a rectangular box.
Tasting these half eggs today was not planned and I'm so glad I did. The idea is amazing and the flavors, which include Demi mandarin, Demi menthe, Demi mangue-passion and Demi coco, are something else. They are an upscale of the average Easter chocolate eggs out there.
Gathered around for lunch with my family, who all love a good chocolate, all agree that chocolate needs to have a certain texture and certain qualities not found easily... we also agree that Pierre Marcolini is a chocolate master and Valrhona chocolates are one of the world's finest gourmet chocolates...
After tasting these eggs – we all looked at each other amazed at how good they are.
The dark chocolate mint and mandarin are to die for; I don't know how M de Noir does it but they surely do it well, extremely well.
The Valrhona dark chocolate filled with a specially made ganache, the freshness felt from the mint mousse explodes under your palate. Unbelievable... I was going to scream from joy! It's like crushing a real mint leaf under your teeth!
Mandarins followed... Even better. An orange colored mousse filling, an outer crunch, the darkness, the finesse... This know how felt in every bite is exceptional.
If I had to prepare a list of places to try before you die, M de Noir will surely hit the first spot. Enough said!
