One of the best restaurants in Lebanon with a wine list that will knock you off your chair!
Chez Sophie is the only restaurant deserving to receive a Michelin Star in Lebanon. Every detail is prepared with perfection. My experience at Chez Sophie was perfect, starting with the welcoming, the smile and joy of the waiters, the cleanliness of the tableware and the soft and well chosen music. In a restaurant where your bill can reach $150/person, it is a crucial to have a well educated waiter serving you who can speak perfect French or English, while also being professional sommelier: the two are found at Chez Sophie. Their Italian sommelier, knows the history of every bottle in his cave, and which to drink with the food chosen.
He will be the one to take the order and will propose the adequate wine. A detail I really loved is how the wine glasses were changed depending on the wine color. They have wine glasses for Red and others for White. Let's eat: The bread is awesome—the best I have tasted in Beirut. Well chosen, with a wide variety of choices and a waiter that will never let your bread plate be empty. For starters, we had a bite of Cuisse De Grenouille, which came with Sophie’s special tartar sauce. Then we ordered the Risotto a la Milanese with Saffron Sauce, Croustillant de Crevettes Sauce Mangue, Chevreuil, Mousseline de Topinambours, Confiture de Choux Rouge au Cassis. 10/10. It was so delicious, full of taste and not complicated. What I can still taste until now is the Confit de Fruits Sauce Moutarde. To accompany this wonderful meal was the Prunotto, Barbaresco, a great wine. Try it, you won't regret it. Check out another review on Chez Sophie or maybe you want to visit their Facebook page.
