Booking through an agency, we were offered a complimentary breakfast at the Grand Midwest Dubai. On the first floor of this apartment hotel building breakfast is served.
Enter an open space near the reception area and the smell of eggs will haunt your clothes for a day. Eggs are prepared in front of the customers on the buffet without a hood to absorb the fumes and smells.
The first morning I arrived at 09:30am. Half the plates were empty, food was all over the place, the smell was taking over the building, the waiters were overwhelmed, no one approached with coffee or service, the frying was unbearable. The second morning, earlier this time, a quarter of the plates were empty and the rest didn't change. A four star place? Far from that!
An island for sweets and pastries with a choice of two cereals, muffins and croissants. Three choices of cold cuts and three of cheese. Dried fruits. Fruits and vegetables. Waffles, French toast, spinach, tomato and potato chickpea curry. Foul, scrambled eggs, beef bacon, beef sausage, soft boiled eggs. Porridge and omelets.
Nothing was appetizing, neither the ambiance, nor the food. I'm not sure that I'll be repeating the experience ever again.
