Beyond Burger: The Future of Food

Last year, visiting New York, I was introduced to the “Impossible burger” which is a burger that looks and tastes like meat but isn’t. Walking along the aisles of Whole Foods, I spotted the “Beyond Burger”! It’s the same concept so let’s try it.

WHAT'S THE BEYOND BURGER™:

The Beyond Burger™ is the world's first plant-based burger that looks, cooks, and tastes like a fresh beef burger. It has all the juicy, meat deliciousness of a traditional burger, but comes with the upsides of a plant-based meal. The Beyond Burger™ packs 20g of plant-based protein and has no GMOs, soy or gluten.

The Beyond burger: beyond meat patty, lettuce, tomato, pickled red onion, chao vegan cheese, sriracha aioli.

Nice, very nice! Let’s start from the end. They say “Aioli,” that’s garlic and I didn’t feel it at all. Sriracha for the spiciness and I enjoyed it. Vegan cheese that looks and tastes like normal cheese. I didn’t even need to add the tomatoes, red onions and lettuce which are served on the side. The bun is soft, milky and lightly sticky with an enjoyable sponginess. Now the patty, looking and tasting like meat, it has the same texture, the same color, and the same taste. Close your eyes, and you won’t even know the difference. An aftertaste of grilled vegetables kicks in as you start chewing while your brain tries to understand what’s happening. It was not as bad as I thought, I enjoyed it the same way I did with the impossible meat and strongly believe that it is indeed the future of food.

You have to try it.
