Beit Tout Guesthouse Wannabe: A Very Bad Experience With Hidden Surprises in Saida

I haven't been writing lately, but after encountering the worst night ever, I couldn't but share my discomfort and anger of a "so-called guesthouse" with hidden surprises you don't want to encounter. It could have ended w an apology from the owners. Instead, they insisted on blaming it on us, blaming us for things we didn't even do, by posting it unprofessionally on Google Maps. Below is a detailed review of a night of madness in a place unsuitable for human living. Feel free to check the photo gallery for more.

It’s a mess; it’s a disgrace. Not a place you want to live in or even liveable.

It’s sad to witness a cheap investment done in such a stingy way, an investment to gain money without caring for customers' well-being. Photos on Instagram that are no other than lies. A place full of dust. Be ready to witness pillow covers made of nylon, only one small towel per guest, extra beds and pillows stacked in the room, cheap tissue paper boxes thrown here and there without boxes, the slowest internet Lebanon has to offer and wait until air conditioning units stop working by the second because two units are connected to one 6A switch.

Solar panels are installed just for lighting. An old, thick-walled house with tiny little windows and no air conditioning? Oh wait, one more thing: the main room has a low 1-meter door, and the house has only one bathroom with no water pressure and broken hoses. Look up the ceiling, just concrete, not even paint.

What a shame. A disgrace!

Let’s continue: the ventilators are so dirty. The kitchen is so hot. The bathroom is suffocating you can’t even take a shower.

Get prepared to sleep in the heat since only one air conditioning unit in the first room is on and turning the second, which is in the living room, will break the circuit: the double bedroom is so hot, you can bake a cake.

Good night: I’m ready to wake up with a backache, the bed is so hard. After waking up several times during the night due to lack of electricity and backpain…

Good morning to a cold water shower, a superheated kitchen and an air-free bathroom.

What else can I tell you... We to count how many times I woke up at night to turn the electricity circuit back on?

Should I mention that you are renting a room with no air conditioning and another with a low door?

Should I tell you about the 10A breaker that's not enough to give electricity to the house?

Should I tell you that the house doesn't have a water heater, so make sure to wait until noon to have a shower?

This house is a disgrace, an unacceptable living space priced at 90$ per night. Yes, 90$ when decent hotels in Tripoli charge you 60$.

And here comes the unprofessional reply, posted publically:

Response from the owner an hour ago:
Hey Anthony, Thanks for your score and welcome again to Saida!! We don't see that this is a fair rating regarding the fact that you brought someone to the house to modify the electricity connections without reporting to the owner. In addition to leaving the house in bad condition such as dirty towels on floor, food leftovers and garbage in the garden which is a breach to the house rules, missing items, and even worse, leaving the house insecured with opened doors, keys inside without reporting for checkout to any of Beit Tout staff. We would really appreciate if the communication was proper and professional and most of all supportive as you try to preview it on media. Thanks!!

Dear owner, no we didn't leave the house in a bad condition, we cleaned everything and put them in closed bags, we left dirty towels on the floor in the bathroom exactly like it should be done in all hotels you visit, we left and closed the door and gave the key to the person in charge, and we checked out at 8am way before checkout time. Dear owner, our mission is to support local businesses. That's why our work in Lebanon is done for free, but we also have a duty to save travelers from scam.

Good luck to you; we hope you clean up the dust, install an additional air conditioning unit in the room, and make sure there is hot water in the morning, increase the electricity threshold, cover the beds with a soft mattress and buy decent bed sheets.

Updates on the 8th of August: Below is the house reply, a learning in lying and bad customer service.
Replies that are all lies, answered by a person w was not in Lebanon at the time, accusing us of things that did not happen. I don't know if we'll reach a point where the voice notes will be shared. It's sad to teach people about professionalism when the person in charge could have ended this mess by a simple phone call of apologies and explanations instead of insisting on playing the victim.

Hey Anthony thanks for your feedback and for erasing our first reply ???? Long story short, the house was checked Two times by Mr Mohamad K. who presented himself as your content organizer who booked the house for you and went into each room and its content one by one reaching the utensils availability and everything and the request was to book the house for your stay only and agreed on everything and booked the house accordingly. Again, whatever mentioned above is unfair and shameful and also falls under negative targeting the business and as you have visited the house for the first time, you could have rejected it directly if you have miscoordination with your organizer as what you mentioned are structural issues of the house and your organizer checked the beds, sheets, towels And backup towels locations. Tiny door!! ???? its an old structural architecture of Saida city FYI! Anyhow to repeat what we mentioned before that you deleted, is that to be professional in sharing the above inputs is by reaching out ON SPOT upon visiting the house and not by targeting the house business afterwards without receiving a single remark during your stay as this is going out of the professional context and breaching different conducts. So the house was received after a thorough check by your organizer Mr Mohamad K, the dates of visits and records are available whenever you want, and what we figured out later is the following: - Modification of house electricity connectors without informing the owner and removed a connector and kept it aside which affected the whole house system!! - Garbage and food leftovers all around the garden - Towels thrown on floors - Missing items from kitchenette - More than one person stayed at house And the worst is by leaving the house unsecured with keys inside at 7:30am without reporting to the owner by any means. Inputs are really reaching an unprofessional point that simply could be sorted by either of the below scenarios: - Internal issue with your organizer that you didn't like what he booked for you then simply on your first visit CHANGE or ask for changes, Rather than reaching such ending!! - Or have proper and professional report during your stay from your side or from your organizer on what you mentioned as its clear to public that you are targeting a business and not sharing a constructive feedback as you try to show on your paid media. Its really unfair and shameful of what we reached with such booking that was fully assessed by your organizer on two different occasions and approved on everything!!! Thanks!!
