If you’re visiting Batroun, I would suggest avoiding the Village Club! It’s the worst hotel I have ever been to in my life.
What a shame.
Really, all I could think was what a shame. If by any chance the price for a room was not so expensive (a whopping $175 per night), I would have understood the situation. But paying such a huge amount for a non-rated hotel, with such a bad service, it was preposterous. We arrived at the hotel late at night, around midnight and the room was prepared and waiting for us. The air conditioner was on since the outside temperature was high (around 28degrees)What was bizarre is that the hotel management didn't even notice that the machine was not working. It was so hot inside that we couldn't stand staying inside the room for more than a couple of minutes. We went down to the reception and asked for another room, but they told us they were fully booked and that they couldn’t do anything about the problem. Showing discomfort and anger, the front desk offered us a free upgrade to what they call a junior suite.
Let me tell you about the famous junior suite:
No bed cover, only bed sheets, dirty, sand and hair on the floor, dirty sofa, and a small 17inch screen, which you would need binoculars for reading the subtitles for movies. At this point, we decided to go to sleep for a long Sunday coming. At 5am, the AC stopped working and we had to open all the windows to be able to survive until morning. At 6am we were woken up again by the Arabic music of the workers, drinking coffee and talking loudly. Deciding to leave after a nice shower we discovered the bathroom: Broken and dirty bathtub curtains, broken toilet seat, dirty towels and very dirty and old hair dryer installed. With more light entering the room, more hair showed around the room, it was totally disgusting! The last surprise was seeing the walls. White painted walls, all dirty from the black hands of the workers that installed the air conditioner. Would the breakfast be better, we wondered. Unfortunately, it was not. They had only three bowls for fruits, cheese and vegetables. Yes, all this for a $175 room. Shame on such a touristic venue. It was the first and last time for sure. I wouldn't have written this review if there was a comment card given to us, or the staff was a bit more professional.
Unfortunately no one cared.
