"A unique tradition for a unique taste"
Founded in 1903 by Austrian confectioner Antoine Rumpelmeyer and named in honor of his daughter-in-law, the Angelina Tea Room facing the Tuileries Gardens has been the favorite meeting place of Parisian gourmets for over a century. Since its opening, Angelina has been the timeless rendezvous of Parisian aristocracy. Amongst many visitors, Coco Chanel, Proust, as well as some of France's greatest couturiers have passed through the tea rooms.
After a full morning visiting the Château de Versailles, my wife and I decided to take a break on the first level of the Pavillon d’Orléans and savor the most famous Mont-Blanc cake on earth. We took a table, were introduced to the snacks menu and the other full menu created by chef Sebastien Bauer and started with some sandwiches before moving to the world- famous hot chocolate L'Africain and signature Mont-Blanc pastry.
That day we tasted: Club sandwich Angelina with chips, Croque Monsieur & Mesclun de Saison, Salade Angelina Foie Gras (Foie Gras de Canard, artichaut à la romaine, haricots verts frais, tomates, avocat, œuf dur, mesclun de saison) and finished with the famous: Le Mont-Blanc (Meringue, chantilly légère, vermicelles de crème de marron)
The food: Impressive as everyone says about it
The service: Needs improvement as we were served by a new member of the staff that wasn't that experimented and visited our section once every 20 minutes.
If you are passing by the Versailles Palace, Angelina is a stop you shouldn't miss at any cost.
