- About LVD:
LVD or Latest Version Diner is a new restaurant opened in Dbayeh. Its concept made a revolution in the world of diners, he tries to bring a NEW Version of diners, to become more elaborate than his rivals which are Roadster Diner, Classic Burger Joint, Crepaway etc… For Example, in his burgers he offers a choice of Black Angus beef or Wagu beef which bring the diner AND the burger to a higher level. Concerning the restaurant in its structure, it looks like a fine diner with a terrace located on the sea side and a bar at the entrance from where you can watch your meal being prepared.
- Conditions of my Visit and Reservation:
I went to this restaurant with my cousin, Anthony RAHAYEL, well known for his website NoGarlicNoOnions where he writes articles about hotels and restaurants in Lebanon and abroad. So this visit to LVD for breakfast was a kind of testing for both of us, and after this experience, an article was published on this site which relates our experience. Concerning the reservation, we didn’t want to make one because of the surprise effect we wanted to make to the staff who weren’t aware about who we were.
- My arrival to LVD Dbayeh (The Service and the atmosphere):
As mentioned above, Anthony and I went to LVD at 8:00am for a breakfast which can be served between 6:00 and 11:00 am. First, upon arrival, there was no Valet Parking who was supposed to be here because the restaurant opens at 6:00 am and has to have a valet parking at its disposal. Second, when we entered the place, which was empty, a waiter was sitting on a chair near the bar and was playing on his mobile phone. He didn’t realize the presence of guests in the restaurant until we took a table near the window showing us the Dbayeh highway. This window was NOT CLEAN AT ALL!! After that, a new waiter came to us and gave us the menu; he was friendlier than the other one and always with a smile on his face. We enjoyed his presence and the atmosphere of the restaurant including the music until its volume was increased. For the rest of the experience, all was very close to being perfect!
- The Food, the Beverage and the Menu:
Concerning the breakfast menu of LVD Dbayeh, it is very well presented and always in the concept of the restaurant (A fine Diner). There is a large choice of cooked eggs with salads (Fried, Boiled, Scrambled …) Pancakes (with chocolate and bananas or with red fruits) and Waffles (with Chocolate, or red fruits). There is also a choice of juice, American coffee or hot chocolate ON THE HOUSE. To be able to taste mostly everything, we ordered Sunny Side up Eggs, Scrambled eggs, pancakes with chocolate chips, bananas on the top and Nutella on the side (THEIR WAS SUPPOSED TO BE WIPPED CREAM ON THE TOP BUT THEY RAN OUT OF IT), AND RED FRUIT WAFFLES, four dishes which cover the general aspect of the breakfast menu. For the taste, I can proudly say that this breakfast is one of the best I’ve ever tasted in Lebanon out of my house.
As you can see in the pictures, food is very well presented; the sunny side up eggs is put on crispy bread which makes you enjoy your meal in the best way ever. The salad served with the eggs is perfect with vinaigrette not that acid for the morning. Also, the waffles are crispy, I guess they put some sugar on it and put it back in the oven to get this effect of crispy on the outside and smooth on the inside with red fruit syrup with bananas and strawberries on the top. The Waffles are made with chocolate chips inside bananas on the top and chocolate on the side (I’m still very angry about the whipping cream…). All this meals were at a very avoidable price (Total of 30$) for a fine restaurant.
- Cleanliness:
From where we were seated, we had a little view to the kitchen which seemed clean basically; the employees working there were hearing hairnets for example. Also, the toilets looked clean but I can’t judge because the place was empty. Concerning the waiter’s hygiene, he was well dressed; hands clean leaving no mark on the plates.
- Conclusion:
To sum up, I really enjoyed the time I passed at LVD Dbayeh from the food to the cleanliness to the staff etc… But there are a few suggestions I need to transmit: Pay attention to the staff in the morning who never suspect the arrival of guests for breakfast. Also, they should always have a valet parking working when restaurant is opened. And finally, pay attention to products stocks in the kitchen (reminder about the event of running out of whipping cream for the pancakes).
